Blue House Cafe started as a simple idea — a little place in the neighborhood where people could slow down, share a cake, and feel at home.
The story
How it began
It all started from a joke and the love of good coffee. :)
In 2023 when we first started renovating the house in Kilo, we realized that there are no cafe or restaurant services close by. One visiting builder saw our garden and commented: "You have a lot of apple trees here and it feels cozy, this would be a perfect place for a seasonal cafe."
That spontaneous idea became a family joke with us, but in time the idea grew with us. Soon we were dreaming of making high-quality coffees for people who enjoy the Trillapuisto playground and the green surroundings of the park. Our interest in good coffee stems from Australian appreciation of coffee drinks and Ecuadorian knowledge and agriculture of the coffee plant.
History
Villa Granbo
According to the Espoo City Museum, Villa Granbo is a historically, architecturally, and culturally significant residential building that beautifully captures the early 20th-century villa culture of the Kilo district. Despite a later extension, it has remarkably retained its original character. Tucked away on a wooded hill amidst a lush, verdant garden, this charming blue villa offers a truly authentic atmosphere. While its exact construction year remains a mystery, the plot was separated from the Konungsböle estate in 1914, and the completed villa was officially documented on a 1932 map. Here, you can enjoy lovely summer days sharing a cup of coffee in a uniquely historic setting. Even in the gray of winter, the grounds remain breathtaking, framed by majestic, mature trees.
